Minister Airlangga Meets Singapore Ambassador to Discuss Cooperation Between 6 Working Groups

ANTARA

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng to discuss the bilateral economic cooperation plan of the 6 Working Groups (WG) Indonesia-Singapore.

The 6 WG cooperation is a bilateral forum aimed at increasing economic collaboration between the two countries, with one of the areas of cooperation covering the Batam, Bintan, Karimun (BBK) economic area and other special economic zones (KEK). Cooperation also includes improving the investment, transportation, labor, agribusiness, and tourism sectors.

“It is expected that the Ministerial Meeting of the 6 WG Cooperation can be held before the leaders’ meeting,” Airlangga said in an official statement, in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The Ministerial Meeting (MM) 6 WG is planned to be held in conjunction with the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Clean Economy Investor Forum in June 2024 in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the time and venue for the Leaders’ Retreat (LR) meeting is still being discussed by the two governments.

This year’s LR meeting is the last LR for both leaders, as President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will end his term of office on October 20, 2024 and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will also hand over his position before November 2024.

In preparation for the MM 6 WG, a Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) will be held in May 2024 in Yogyakarta, presenting representatives from each of the 6 WG working groups to convey the progress of each working group.

“I look forward to positive news from the 6 WG working groups, ahead of the Ministerial Meeting in Singapore,” said Airlangga.
