ASEAN through a joint statement of Foreign Ministers said it fully supports the Russian Government’s efforts to address the terrorist acts at Crocus City Hall, Krasnogorsk, Moscow and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“ASEAN fully supports the efforts of the Government of the Russian Federation in addressing this situation and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” said the statement received by Indonesia Window here on Wednesday.
The Foreign Ministers also said that ASEAN strongly condemns the barbaric terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region, Russian Federation, on March 22, 2024 which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and many casualties, including children.
“ASEAN extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims, the people and the Government of the Russian Federation, and wishes the victims a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
ASEAN further underscored the urgent need for concerted international efforts to eliminate the scourge of terrorism in a comprehensive and effective manner.
ASEAN expressed standing in solidarity with the people and Government of the Russian Federation during this difficult time.
ASEAN also reaffirmed its strong commitment to cooperate with the international community in combating terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, in accordance with the principles enshrined in relevant international conventions and protocols, including the ASEAN Charter.
Gunmen opened fire on Friday evening as the Picnic music group prepared to perform at Crocus City Hall in western Moscow.
The Russian Investigative Committee said the attackers used flammable liquids to set fire to the building which then spread rapidly over an area of nearly 13,000 square meters.
The attackers also carried automatic weapons and all four attackers directly involved in the incident have now been arrested.
The four suspects are Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Rachabalizodu, Shamsidin Fariduni and Muhammadsobir Fayzov.
