The Malaysian government strongly condemns the attack on the Al-Nuseirat camp in the Gaza Strip that left eight Palestinians dead and 20 others injured while distributing food supplies donated by Malaysians.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in a written statement received in Kuala Lumpur, Saturday, said the irresponsible airstrike by the Israeli regime on the Al-Nuseirat camp in the Gaza Strip was carried out during the preparation of the distribution of food supplies that were urgently needed there.
The food aid was donated by Malaysians collected through the Humanitarian Trust Account Fund for the Palestinian People (AAKRP) and managed by Ops Ihsan which is a coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Malaysia.
Israel’s violent actions against innocent civilians are a clear disregard for human rights and international humanitarian law. Such attacks on the Palestinian people are also a grave violation of their basic right to live in peace, security and tranquility, Wisma Putra emphasized.
Those in the camps are innocent Palestinians who pose no threat to the Israeli regime, but are simply exercising their humanitarian responsibilities towards their fellow Palestinians.
To ensure the safety of the Palestinian people, the international community is urged to intervene immediately and decisively, and hold the Israeli regime accountable for their disregard for human life. Justice must be served and measures taken to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
The statement also said solidarity and support for the Palestinian people must be extended to ensure their efforts for justice, peace and their rights are realized.
Malaysia stands by the principle that the Palestinian people are entitled to an independent and sovereign state, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Baitulmaqdis as the capital.
