Malaysia’s policy position is consistent, that the country does not support or oppose colonialism or apartheid or ethnic cleansing or deprivation of the position of any country. Be it in Ukraine or in Gaza, Anwar said, emphasizing.

He said it cannot erase 40 years of atrocities and dispossession, which have generated public reaction and outrage.

He said he strongly rejects the narrative, the obsession, as if the whole issue begins and ends on October 7, 2023.

“It didn’t start on October 7, and it didn’t end on October 7. It started four decades earlier, and it continues every day,” Anwar said, emphasizing.

He said he discussed many issues with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz who sometimes had different views, but shared the same beliefs regarding the ongoing war in Gaza, where both agreed to hold a prisoner release and ceasefire as soon as possible, as well as providing humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, especially those in Gaza.

Malaysia, said Anwar, certainly cares about what happened on October 7, 2023 when the conflict between Hamas and Israel began. However, he asked Europe, especially Germany, to see the fact that the atrocities, oppression and robbery of the Palestinian people have been going on for four decades.

On the same occasion PM Anwar emphasized that Malaysia has no relationship with the military wing of Hamas.
