The Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand accredited to UNESCAP, Rachmat Budiman, discussed the rules for importing moving goods and shipments, including gifts, from Thailand to Indonesia at the “Indonesian Ambassador Greeting” event in Thailand on Thursday with the aim of increasing Indonesian citizens’ understanding of the relevant rules.
“Considering the frequency of Indonesian citizens in Thailand coming to the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok asking about the procedures for sending goods or bringing moving goods from Thailand to Indonesia, we held this socialization,” Ambassador Rachmat said in a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok received by Indonesia Window here on Friday.
According to the ambassador, understanding the regulations for importing goods from Thailand to Indonesia is important for all Indonesian citizens in Thailand so that when transferring goods to Indonesia they already understand the procedures and obligations.
Rachmat also expressed his appreciation to the resource persons and the entire Indonesian community in Thailand for their support and participation in the activity.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok is open to suggestions and input from Indonesian citizens to discuss issues that become the needs of Indonesian citizens in Thailand and it is hoped that the gathering will continue to run well and provide benefits,” he said.
Director of Imports at the Ministry of Trade Arif Sulistiyo gave a presentation on the regulations for importing goods from abroad to Indonesia in general, including a list of goods that are prohibited from being imported, goods that are restricted from being imported and goods that may be imported under certain conditions.
“Indonesian Migrant Worker participants who attended were reminded to ensure that they are registered at BP2MI or at the Indonesian Citizen Care Portal to take care of the import permit for personal and moving goods,” he said.
Meanwhile, Technical Director of Customs at the Ministry of Finance R. Fadjar Donny Tjahjadi explained in detail the regulations on the import of shipment goods, passenger goods, transfer goods, the requirements for goods that can be sent, packaging size, customs duty treatment and the responsibility of the recipient of the goods.
In addition, the procedures for importing goods sent by Indonesian citizens abroad, the scheme of sending goods, how to track goods sent with the customs mobile application and the provisions of limited restrictions on goods sent were also explained.
The “Indonesian Ambassador Greeting” event, which was conducted in a hybrid manner and attended by 120 Indonesian citizens, was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok together with the Consulate General of Songkhla, and attended by the Chairperson and members of the Indonesia Diaspora Network (IDN Thailand), chairman and members of the Indonesian Student Association in Thailand (PERMITHA), and other Indonesian community groups.
