China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said on Thursday that it is ready to cooperate with the new Indonesian government.
The statement was made in response to the presidential election and the pairing of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka who are temporarily leading the quick count results.
“China would like to continue cooperation with Indonesia to build a relationship of mutual trust,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a written statement when confirmed by ANTARA in Beijing, China on Thursday.
China calls Indonesia a close neighbor.
“And we are happy that the elections in Indonesia were held smoothly. China strongly maintains good relations with Indonesia,” he added.
In recent years, China-Indonesia relations have also maintained strong momentum and opened a new chapter to jointly build a community with a shared future.
“China will continue to deepen strategic cooperation in an all-round way and promote healthy and stable China-Indonesia relations in the long term with the main theme of building a community with a shared future so as to create benefits for both peoples,” the statement said.
The 2024 elections were followed by three pairs, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar as number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD as number 3.
The Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair is so far still ahead in the temporary quick count results from several survey institutions.
Several survey institutions such as Charta Politika, KedaiKOPI, and Populi Center have shown that the Prabowo-Gibran pair is ahead in the 2024 presidential election vote.
These institutions, based on their quick count results, also predicted that the presidential and vice presidential elections would take place in one round won by the Prabowo-Gibran pair.
Meanwhile, based on the total ballots that have entered the calculation or “real count” of the Indonesian KPU, it has only reached 41.01 percent.
Based on monitoring on the website pemilu2024.kpu.go.id, Thursday, data as of 22.00. WIB shows that the number of votes entered was 823,236 polling stations or 45.32 percent.
The following results are arranged based on the presidential / vice presidential candidate pair sequence number for the 2024 Election:
- Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar: 25.39 percent or 10,829,031 votes;
- Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming: 56.72 percent or 24,192,616 votes;
- Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md: 17.9 percent or 7,634,299 votes.
In accordance with KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2022, the national vote recapitulation for the 2024 elections is scheduled to take place from February 15 to March 20, 2024.
