Malaysia has strongly condemned Israel’s massive attack on Rafah town in Gaza where ordinary people find refuge.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry in a press statement issued in Putrajaya on Monday said the cruel and inhumane attack would further escalate tensions and humanitarian catastrophe and slow down all efforts to stop the war and a lasting ceasefire.
Malaysia demanded that Israel stop the attack and abide by all provisions of international law.
Wisma Putra said the malicious military operation clearly demonstrates the Zionist regime’s aim to erase the Palestinian people from their homeland.
The Zionist regime’s arrogant disregard for the principles of international humanitarian law and its clear defiance of the International Criminal Court’s January 26, 2024 decision on six interim measures Israel must take, according to the press statement.
The international community must not allow such actions to take place blatantly without any action.
Wisma Putra said Malaysia supports the call of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General and urges the UN Security Council to take bold action to prevent a new catastrophe by the Zionist regime.
In addition, it pressured the international community to exercise its responsibility and stop any support to the regime that openly disregards all efforts to ease tensions.
The statement said Malaysia remains in full support of the Palestinian cause in its efforts to regain its right to self-rule, establish an independent and sovereign state based on the pre-1967 borders with East Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Palestinian state, and be accepted as a permanent member of the UN.
