Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Oversees Case of Alleged Murder of Indonesian Citizen in Petaling Jaya

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is monitoring the alleged murder of an Indonesian woman in Mentari Village, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Coordinator of the Pensosbud Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Yoshi Iskandar confirmed that the woman found dead was an Indonesian citizen.

The Indonesian Embassy, according to Yoshi, has been able to contact the victim’s family in Indonesia and convey the autopsy process needed for the victim’s body for investigation purposes.

Malaysian police conducted an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and for further investigation. Therefore, the victim’s body cannot yet be repatriated to Indonesia.

Police have also not been able to determine the motive behind the alleged murder of the migrant worker from East Java, Yoshi said. Several fellow Indonesians who rented the same unit as the victim were also questioned as witnesses.

In a media statement, Petaling Jaya Police Chief Mohd Fakhrudin Abd Hamid ACP said the Petaling Jaya Regional Police Station received a call from Mers 999 on Monday (Jan 29) at around 6.30am local time from a local man who informed that he found a woman of unknown ethnicity unconscious near the stairs of Mentari apartment in Mentari Village area, Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya.

He said the Selangor Police Station D10 Forensic Division, Sungai Buloh Hospital medical team and the pathology team from the University of Malaya Medical Center were assigned to the scene.

From the examination of the body of the 19-year-old female victim, he said, injuries were found on the neck, chest and both hands.

He said the case was classified as murder and was being investigated under section 302 of the Penal Code.
