Retno, who spoke during the UN Security Council’s open debate on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis monitored online Thursday morning, then questioned the UN Security Council’s stance in response to Netanyahu’s statement.

“Will this Council remain silent in the face of these intentions?” she said.

In anticipation of the threat of a full-blown war in the Middle East, Retno again called for a permanent ceasefire that would provide space to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, as well as begin post-conflict reconstruction efforts and allow the continuation of the two-state solution process.

“At the same time, it is very important to support the work of the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator to pave the way for the delivery of humanitarian aid to save many lives in Gaza,” she said.

Retno also emphasized that Palestine must immediately be given full membership status at the UN.

“This is important to start a fair and balanced effort in a two-state solution, and stop Israel’s brutal aggression,” she said.

He also urged the world to stop the flow of weapons to Israel that could be used to kill innocent civilians.

“Israel must be held accountable for its actions, including the atrocities in Gaza. No country is immune to the law,” Retno emphasized.

During the meeting that took place in New York, the United States, Foreign Minister Retno also revealed Indonesia’s plan to deliver an oral statement before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to provide input on legal views to the ICJ.

Indonesia’s participation is in accordance with the UN General Assembly’s request for an advisory opinion from the ICJ on the legal consequences of Israel’s policies and actions in Palestine. “Next month, Indonesia will submit an Oral Statement for the ICJ Advisory Opinion brought to the court on the mandate of the General Assembly.Indonesia will do everything possible to support Palestine,” Retno said.
