Furthermore, Malaysia will submit an Oral Statement to the ICJ on February 22, 2024, according to the press release.

MoFA also said Malaysia had previously submitted a written statement on July 25, 2023 to the ICJ highlighting Israel’s violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

The process of obtaining the ICJ Advisory Opinion was a follow-up to Resolution 77/247 of the United Nations General Assembly adopted on December 30, 2022, and co-sponsored by Malaysia.

Malaysia fully supports the legal action taken by South Africa against Israel in relation to the violation of its responsibilities under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
