Bogor City Government, West Java, has been selected to represent Indonesia in the ASEAN Smoke Free Award (ASA) after eliminating 11 cities/districts/provinces as candidates.
Regional Secretary of Bogor City Syarifah Sofiah in Bogor, Thursday, explained that in this ASA event Bogor City competes with other cities in ASEAN.
“We are preparing as much as possible for this ASA assessment,” she said.
She explained that the assessment process from ASA is by conducting a direct review of 40 locations consisting of government offices, hotels, restaurants, cafes and public places.
“We chose to sample 40 locations that will be visited by the SEATCA (Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance) team,” explained Syarifah.
Meanwhile, Head of Bogor City Health Office Sri Nowo Retno said, the ASA event is an award for districts/cities/provinces that have implemented smoke-free areas (KTR) at the regional level with the aim of becoming a “best practice” smoke-free city recognized by ASEAN.
Before the assessment from SEATCA (ASA assessor) on January 19, a zoom meeting will be held to equalize perceptions related to documents that have been sent and assessment indicators.
“By representing Indonesia in the ASA event, it will certainly strengthen and optimize the implementation of KTR in Bogor City,” he explained.
