Visiting Brunei, President Jokowi Secures Investment Commitment in IKN worth Rp7T

Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s visit to Brunei Darussalam brought investment commitments worth 300-400 million US dollars (around Rp4-7 trillion) for the development of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN). The commitment came from the Brunei Investor Consortium.

The investment commitment was conveyed by Prince Anak Putri Hajjah Amal Rakiah, the younger sister of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, when leading a delegation of investors to meet President Jokowi at the Assaara Guest House in Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday (13/1).

According to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei in Jakarta on Sunday, Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Achmad Ubaedillah said the written investment commitment in IKN was handed over by Princess Amal Rakiah to Head of IKN Authority Bambang Susantono, witnessed by President Jokowi.

Regarding investment commitment in IKN, Ryada Holding Investment Group Company as the Investment Consortium has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for two housing projects worth Rp4-7 trillion.

In the meeting with Princess Hajjah Amal Rakiah, President Jokowi appreciated and expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the Investment Consortium to invest in IKN and invited the investors to see firsthand the progress of IKN development.

At the meeting, Prince Anak Hajjah Amal Rakiah was accompanied by Executive Director of Redcon Construction and Ryada Holding Investment Group, Mohamed Al Hadidy, Executive Consultant Al Sulaimini Muteeb Al Mansoor as well as personal assistants and other business partners.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi was accompanied by Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Head of IKN Bambang Susantono, member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Gandi Sulistiyanto Suherman and Ambassador Ubaedillah.

The arrival of President Jokowi in Bandar Seri Begawan was welcomed by Minister of Defense II Major General Pehin Halbi bin Mohd. Yussof, Chief of the Brunei Royal Police Mohammad Irwan bin Hambali, Chief of the Brunei Royal Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Ambassador Ubaedillah and Defense Attaché Colonel Arm. Doddy Suhadiman.

Before attending the wedding reception of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s son Prince Abdul Mateen on January 14 in Bandar Seri Begawan, President Jokowi made a state visit to the Philippines and Vietnam on January 9.
